Book 2: Mariposa

Where to begin... I don't want to post any spoilers. So
I'll keep my review basic. So if you want to know more... GO BUY AND READ
THE BOOK! You will NOT be disappointed! Mrs. Armusik, masterfully weaves
a tale of beauty, pain, sorrow, triumph, faith, descent, ascension, power,
love, death, hunger, passion, glory, and redemption. Faith in particular.
It comes in many forms. Mrs. Armusik is a modern day priestess and a prophet,
with wisdom that is years ahead of her time. She fearlessly writes about
people, places, and things that the faint of heart could not handle or
fathom. Her portrayal of ''monsters'' is complex and rich with character
development. These are not your run of the mill Vampires. Not the pale
emo kids of Twilight, or the glamorized, over romanticized, decadent and
androgynous figures of Anne Rice.
These creatures, these beings, are savage, yet beautiful. Powerful, yet
weak. Fallen, and yet risen. They have emotion. Ambition. Intellect. Wisdom.
Not just fanged beauties who're slaves to their thirst. And last but not
least... If you are a ''Werewolf Enthusiast'' much like myself, then look
no further. We finally have an author who does us justice. Werewolves
(Vlkolak) are NOT just mindless animals! They are loyal, strong, loving,
cunning, courageous, honorable, just as much as they are deadly! Mrs.
Armusik shows us the people behind the ''monsters'' and not just the flesh
ripping, blood drinking beasts we're so used to. I have no doubt in my
mind, that these 13 Novels, will be what future Gothic storytelling legends
will be made of. Buy it. Own it. Read it. Feel it.

After reading Book 1, Memoirs of a Gothic Soul, I couldn't
wait to read Book 2, Mariposa. I was so wrapped up in the characters and
story that Rebekah creates that I ended up staying up all night to read
this book. I love that the characters are so relatable and the fact that
they're vampires is only a small part of the story line.
Every time I read Rebekah's writing it's like reading poetry that is always
so beautifully written it moves me to tears. The detail in this book is
incredible. I love that I can really visualize what is going on. It is
so refreshing to finally be reading a vampire series that isn't immature,
unbelievable, or just flat-out poorly written.

Once again Rebekah Armusik has done it. I finished this
book only to want to pick up the third book immediately. This is not a
stand alone book. Reading Memoirs of a Gothic Soul before hand is a must.
That being said, character and story development continues and pulls the
reader even more inside this world. Vampires, fallen angels, guardians,
and so many more make this book simply incredible.

When I was 15, many years before the Twilight craze, I read my first vampire
novel. It was written by Anne Rice, who else right? I immediately fell
in love. Anyone who knows me well knows this. I've read many others by
different authors since then, some good some not so good. Since reading
the very last vampire story she wrote, I've been on a quest to find something
that would draw me in the way h...er books did, all failure. Some were
entertaining but not even close to being in the same league. That is until
now. Rebekah Armusik must have been reading my mind because she delivered
exactly what I've been looking for, I think she secretly wrote it just
for me. Memoirs was great, Mariposa is brilliant.

After reading book one, I couldn't wait until I could get
my hands on a copy of book two. From the second I downloaded this to my
kindle, I was hooked. After following Nadija Fey through all of the struggles
she faced in Memoirs of a Gothic Soul, I was thrilled to find out what
happened to her in this book. This book, as with all of Rebekah's writing
will leave you wanting more from the minute you read the very first word.

Rebekah, I just finished Mariposa. I am speechless. I cried,
froze in horror, laughed (loved the "party") and ended sobbing.
Your writing conjours such emotion in me. Thank you for such a wonderful
piece of literature.

Absolutely breathtaking!, July 5, 2011
By Mars72174
This review is from: Memoirs of a Gothic Soul (Paperback)
I've been an avid reader since I was a child. Any kind of supernatural
or horror has always intrigued me, but nothing like vampirism. This novel
was intricately woven with Slovak traditions, vampire lore and romance.
I read this novel in 2 days. I was literally speechless with the impressive
development of the characters and their relationships. It was like no
other vampire novel ever read by me! New ideas, true love, drama, intrigue
and a fantastic way of thinking. I actually started to make myself believe
that this could be a real world. I've read inferior and substandard vampire
lore... This is, by far, THE BEST work I've ever read in almost 26 years
of having a passion for not only reading, but also for this particular
subject. I'm absolutely HUNGRY for book two and for how the story will
develop into an amazing adventure for the characters and the world of
vampires. I hope that Ms. Armusik is working feverishly to complete it
so that her now loyal fans can embrace a true collection of art!

Move over Anne Rice! In recent years, vampire novels have been saturated
with shiny vampires and hollow characters. There is no "heart"
in the recent crop of vampire books. "Memoirs of a Gothic Soul"
brought me back to the time when Vampires where just that...Vampires.
The authors brilliant and vivid descriptions of the characters and places
in her book makes one actually feel as if you were watching a movie. There
is action, intrigue, and a bit of romance. I was a child of the 80's and
read mostly Anne Rice. I gave the first Twilight book a peek, and that
peek led to giving the book to charity. Unlike most authors vampire books,
this is so much more. It's about a personal journey. It's about overcoming
and coming to grips with your fate. I recommend this book to anyone looking
for a good vampire romp.

The beginning of an excellent series, March 20, 2011
By Paul Toussaint (New York City)
This 1st Novel is everything you want in a great book, It's funny yet
at times it pulls on your heart strings and is sad, Turn the page and
you're "addicted" to the words in front of you and can't wait
to read what is going to happen next. At moments it's down-right scary
to back at being hilariously funny as all hell. I even love the not so
likable characters in her book. It's sexy with the romantic twist we all
secretly hold within us. I guess you can say. I think I found a new "favorite"
author.

Simply Poetic!, February 23, 2011

This review is from: Memoirs of a Gothic Soul (Kindle Edition)
The moment I received this book I began reading it - and couldn't put
it down! It constantly kept me wondering what was coming next.
I must also say that the main character, Nadija, is so relatable. From
the relationship with her family to the romance in Prague - NOTHING seems
far fetched or unbelievable. It's just so real. And I can honestly say
that she does not spare a thing in the dialogue. Rebekah wrote the dialogue
like a normal college graduate would think and speak.
I also found myself teary-eyed often (not because it is so sappy - but
because it is so beautifully written). The description throughout the
entire book was incredible. I was able to picture everything so vividly.
Rebekah is a very talented author and I can't wait to read the rest of
the series. I would definitely recommend this book to everyone I know.

I fell in love with this book from the moment I picked it up. Why? Because
I could relate to Nadija. I was in her shoes many years ago and it only
made me stronger and a better person for it. I will not go into details
about the book but I will tell you it is a must read!!!

I started to read this book and could not put it down. It is a beautifully
and thoughtfully written story. The author is a gifted story teller who
lures you in from the very beginning and leaves you in the end wanting
more. I look forward to reading more from Rebekah Armusik in the future.

I was never much into Vampire novels and to be honest the entire Twilight
thing was of no interest of me. I reluctantly began to read this book
and I was so drawn in. I ended up reading it in one day. Truly a great
read and I can't wait for more.

A story or a memory?, March 17, 2011
By C Perry MacGilbride
This review is from: Memoirs of a Gothic Soul (Paperback)
Any good fantasy needs to have some element of believability. Armusik
goes well beyond the requirement. She uses her inexplicable insight to
the human psyche, both female and male, to put you in the moment with
full awareness of the situation. Hasn't every testosterone-toting man
wondered how a lone woman could, no matter how angry, walk out of a club
into a deserted alley? You will not find the answer here. However, you
will be there; you will argue with her; your blood will boil; and you
will remember every eternal second of the silent ride home. By the end,
you will wonder just how much of this is really "just a story."

Sometimes... Things Have a Way of Grabbing You..., March
16, 2011
By Emily Scheider
This review is from: Memoirs of a Gothic Soul (Paperback)
And when you open this novel, you're instantly grabbed and by the time
it's over, you're left wanting more. The novel is one that was clearly
written straight from the heart and I found such comfort in its pages...
feeling as though I knew the people personally; these pages told of "my"
friends, family, and those that impacted "my" life. The novel
truly is that relatable, something I thought would be impossible to accomplish
in a novel about Immortals. The imagery the author uses creates a land
one would just do anything to live within; everything is described in
such a way that you feel you were swept away in the wave of Rebekah's
pen. I have read quite a few books with Immortals among the pages, and
without a doubt, they just don't compare. What is most incredible is that
this is just the first in the series and I can not for the life of me
find the words to express how anxiously I am awaiting book two! Well done,
Rebekah, and I encourage all readers to check out this novel and fall
in love with reading Immortal literature all over again!
